- We are experiencing problems with downloading files using ZModem from
- a Unix machine at low speeds i.e. 2400bps
-
- After monitoring ZModem logs at both ends I determined that the following
- was happening. The sending ZModem program had completed sending all of its
- data subpackets long before the receiving ZModem program got them. After
- sending all its data the sending end was waiting for and other end to
- acknoledge (in effect) that everything was OK but because the receiving end
- was so far behind the sending end timed out before this acknoledgement was
- received. Further investigation revealed that the reason that the receiving
- end was so far behind was the quite a substantial amount of data (up to 20K
- bytes) was being buffered in the modem at the sending end.
-
- The modem at the sending end is a Motorola Lifestyle 28.8 desktop modem.
- Does anybody have any solutions for this problem. In particular is there a way
- of reducing the data buffer size on the modem, somthing less than 1k would
- work well.
-
- Cheers,
